There are two Fiskars folding saws in our kit. We’ve already reviewed the bigger Fiskars Folding Saw, with its 25 cm blade. This is the compact one: the Fiskars 7-inch pruning saw, a folding hand saw with a curved handle. I paid about $45 for it, and it came with us on our big trip, including camp at Coppermine Campground in the Grampians.
What You’re Getting
A folding saw with a 7-inch (about 18 cm) steel blade that folds into a curved black and orange handle. Fiskars calls the blade razor sharp, fully hardened and precision ground, and the saw comes with a full lifetime warranty.
What we like
- Blade locks open and folded
- Curved, non-slip grip
- Folds into the handle
- Hardened, precision-ground blade
- Full lifetime warranty
- Lanyard hole in the handle
What we don’t
- Shorter blade than the big Fiskars
- Costs more than the big Fiskars

Handle and lock
The handle curves down at the end like a pistol grip, with ribbed, non-slip sides and an orange lanyard hole at the bottom. Folded, the blade sits inside the handle, so the teeth are covered when it’s in a bag or a drawer.

The blade locks in both positions. A black lever next to the pivot releases it, so it can’t fold onto your fingers while you’re cutting, or swing open in your pack.

The whole saw weighed 206 g on our scale, about the same as the bigger Fiskars.

The blade
The blade is fully hardened, precision-ground steel with coarse teeth, made for cutting branches rather than fine work. At 7 inches, it’s a size for kindling and smaller branches. It’s a good saw: it works almost as well as our Workpro folding camp saw, the one we rate highest.

The two weigh about the same, but the bigger saw has a much longer blade, and it cost us less. Read our Fiskars Folding Saw review.

Yes, if you want a compact saw for kindling and smaller branches: it works almost as well as our Workpro folding saw. I paid about $45. If you mostly cut thicker wood, the bigger Fiskars folding saw has a longer blade and cost me less.
