A head torch doesn’t need to cost much to be useful at camp. The Lepro 320014 is a small rechargeable headlamp with a spot light, a flood light and coloured light on its own button. We paid $20 for it, and it weighed 74 g on our scale.

White light

The white light comes in two kinds, and you choose between them. The spot is the LED behind the small lens in the middle. It throws the light forward, which is what you want for walking to the toilet block or looking for something across the campsite. The lamp is listed at 300 lumens with a range of up to 150 m.

The flood comes from the panels beside the lens. It’s wider and more even, so it’s the one for cooking, reading or working on something up close, where a spot gives you tunnel vision. Both have a high and a low setting.

The lamp tilts down on its bracket, so you can point the beam at your hands or the ground in front of you without bending your neck.

Coloured light and the two buttons

The same panels give the coloured light. The steady red is the one to use around camp at night. It’s easier on your eyes and doesn’t dazzle the people sitting opposite you. There’s also a warning signal that flashes red and green, for when you want to be seen: on a bike, at the side of a road or in an emergency.

The two buttons on top make it simple to use. One works the white light and the other the coloured light, so you can go straight to red without flashing white at everyone first. On a lot of single-button head torches that isn’t possible.

Charging, weight and weather

The 1,200 mAh battery is built in and charges through a USB-C port on the back of the lamp, under a small cover. That means no batteries to buy and an easy top-up from a power bank or the car. The other side of that is that you can’t swap in fresh batteries when it’s flat. The runtime is up to 15 hours on low. That’s half of what the simpler Lepro 3200008 manages, which is the price of the brighter light.

It weighed 74 g on our scale with the headband, which is light enough to forget you’re wearing it. The IPX4 rating covers rain and splashes, but not a dunking.

We bought both, and they do different jobs. The 320014 is the one with more light: separate spot and flood, 300 lumens and a stronger beam, for $3 less. The Lepro 3200008 is the simple one with a single main light, and it runs twice as long on low.

For a head torch you’ll use every night at camp, take the 320014. For a backup in the car or the emergency kit, where runtime counts most, take the 3200008.

Conclusion: Lepro 320014 LED Headlamp

The Lepro 320014 is a light, cheap, rechargeable head torch that does more than its price suggests. It weighs 74 g, gives 300 lumens as a spot or a flood, adds coloured light on a separate button and tilts to point the beam. The battery is built in, the runtime is up to 15 hours, and IPX4 means splashes only. I paid $20 for it. As a simple head torch for camp, or a spare for the glovebox, it’s good value.

The verdict

A 74 g rechargeable head torch with 300 lumens, separate spot and flood lights, coloured light and two buttons, for $20.

Up to 15 hours of runtime, and the battery is built in. It suits campers who want a light, capable head torch for little money.

Best for
  • Campers
  • Hikers
  • Anglers
Worth the money?Value 90/100

Yes. $20 buys a rechargeable head torch that weighs next to nothing and has a spot, a flood and coloured light. If runtime matters more than brightness, the Lepro 3200008 runs twice as long.
