The Olight Baton 4 is a tiny pocket torch, 63 mm long, that puts out up to 1,300 lumens. The Premium Edition comes with a charging case that keeps it topped up. I paid $150 for it. Like all our Olight torches, it came with us on a trip up north to Bouddi National Park.
What You’re Getting
A small black aluminium torch with a textured body, a metal side switch with a blue ring and a pocket clip, plus a black charging case with a flip-up lid. The box also has a USB cable, a lanyard with a pin tool and a microfibre cloth. It’s sold in black, Gentleman Blue, orange, white and OD Green. On our scale the torch weighed 52 g, and 198 g in its case.

Brightness and modes
For something this small, the output is a surprise: 1,300 lumens on Turbo and up to 170 m of throw. The metal side switch runs five levels, from a sub-lumen Moonlight to Turbo:
| Mode | Brightness | Runtime | Throw |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turbo | 1,300 → 600 → 300 lm | 1.5 + 2.5 + 73 min | 170 m |
| High | 600 → 300 → 60 lm | 7 + 72 + 16 min | 110 m |
| Medium | 60 lm | 8 h | 38 m |
| Low | 12 lm | 35 h | 18 m |
| Moonlight | 0.5 lm | 30 days | – |
With a 650 mAh battery it can’t hold the top levels for long: Turbo steps down to 600 lumens after about 1.5 minutes, and High drops to 300 lumens after about 7. Tiny dots beside the switch light up to show the battery level and the brightness at a glance. The sub-lumen Moonlight mode is great for reading or finding your way in the dark without ruining your night vision. The light itself is on the cool side, with a slight green tint on the lower modes.

The charging case
The case is what makes it the Premium Edition. The torch drops in head up and charges, and when you close the lid it’s protected in your pocket or bag. The case has its own 5,000 mAh 21700 battery, enough to fully charge the torch up to five times, which Olight works out to as much as 190 days of use. The case charges by USB-C, and it works as a 5V/2.4A USB-C power bank for a phone or other gear. Away from the case, the torch also charges on Olight’s magnetic cable. At 198 g with the torch, it’s heavier than the torch on its own, so it’s more a thing for the car or the bag than your pocket.

Size and weight
The torch on its own is 63 mm long with a 21 mm bezel, and it weighed 52 g on our scale (Olight says 52.5 g). With the pocket clip it sits in a shirt or trouser pocket, a small pouch or on a keyring, and you forget it’s there. It’s waterproof to IPX8, down to 1 m. The battery is Olight’s own 16340 cell, not a standard off-the-shelf one.

Premium Edition or the torch on its ownPremium or torch only
We have the Premium Edition, which is the torch plus the charging case, for $150. If you don’t need the case, the Baton 4 is also sold on its own for about $85 on Amazon. It’s the same torch, with the same 1,300 lumens and 650 mAh battery, and it charges on Olight’s magnetic cable instead. The extra $65 buys you the case’s 5,000 mAh battery: about five full charges for the torch away from power, a USB-C power bank for your phone, and a hard shell that protects the torch in a bag. For trips away from power the case is worth it; for a torch that lives in your pocket at home, the torch on its own does the job.

Baton 4 vs Warrior 3S
The Olight Warrior 3S is our other everyday carry torch. The Warrior is bigger and brighter, with a tail switch for instant Turbo and a 21700 battery that lasts much longer. The Baton 4 is a third of the weight and fits a pocket easily, and its case keeps it charged.

Conclusion: Olight Baton 4 Premium EditionConclusion
The Olight Baton 4 is a 63 mm torch that weighed 52 g on our scale and still puts out up to 1,300 lumens, run from one side switch. The trade-offs: Turbo and High step down quickly, the light is cool with a slight green tint on low, and the battery is Olight’s own. It’s the torch that’s always in your pocket and always charged.
