The Upwoigh 19L is a water container with a rechargeable electric pump on top: one touch and the water runs. It came with us on our big loop in December, from Sydney to Adelaide, on to Melbourne and back to Sydney, and it was a game changer. I paid $115 for it, and it’s very much worth it.
What You’re Getting
A green 19 litre container (the label says 5 gallons) in thick, impact-resistant, BPA-free, food-grade plastic, with a sturdy carry handle on top, a wide screw lid with an air vent, a small opening with a manual tap and an extension tube that clips into the side. The rechargeable pump comes with it, plus a hose, a USB cable, spare seals, a cleaning brush and a mesh bag. It measures about 30 cm wide and 40 cm high, and the container weighed 1,073 g empty on our scale.

The electric pump
The pump is what makes this container. It sits on top, with a hose down into the water, and has a touch panel on top: one tap and the water runs out of the fold-out spout, so you never have to lift or tip a heavy 19 litre container. No tipping, no fiddling with a tap at the bottom, no holding the container up while you fill a bottle. Cooking or brushing your teeth in the evening at the back of the car almost feels like home comfort.

The pump charges over USB-C, so a power bank, the car or a solar panel will do. We charged ours from the USB socket in the back of the Prado, and using it constantly throughout the day for three weeks, it only needed charging two or three times. If it ever goes flat, the manual tap on the small opening still works, so you’re never without water.

In the car
At 19 litres it’s a big container: over 20 kg when full, so it’s not one to carry around camp. On the trip we strapped ours to the fridge in the back of the car, so it stayed put on the corrugated roads and the pump was right there whenever we needed water. We used it every day, and the thick shell has held up well. Ours had a mild plastic smell when it was new, but it went after a thorough rinse and airing out.

Water container comparison
We’ve tested several water containers with a tap. The Upwoigh is the only one with an electric pump, and it holds about as much as the two Aimall containers. The Aimall 18.5L and Aimall 20L are cheaper but use a tap at the bottom, and the 12L Camping Water Container is the one to carry.

Conclusion: Upwoigh 19L Water ContainerConclusion
The Upwoigh 19L water container comes with a rechargeable electric pump: one tap on the touch panel and the water runs, with a manual tap as a backup. On our three-week loop from Sydney to Adelaide, Melbourne and back it sat strapped to the fridge, and it was a game changer: no more fiddling with containers, and cooking or brushing your teeth at the back of the car almost felt like home. It’s heavy when full, you need to keep an eye on the pump’s battery (two or three charges in three weeks for us), and it costs more than a plain container, but it’s very much worth it. I paid $115.

Yes, very much. I paid $115, more than a plain container, but on a three-week trip it made water at camp as easy as a tap at home.
