The best multitool is the one you have on you, and that’s usually the small one. The Roxon M2 is a mini multitool with 14 tools in a body just 7 cm long, and it comes with a bit extender, a strip of driver bits and a belt pouch. We paid $44 for it, and the tool weighed 132 g on our scale. It’s an absolutely great little tool: the materials feel really premium, and it’s so small that it’s easy to bring on any trip.

What You’re Getting
The M2 itself, a bit extender, a strip of driver bits in a holder, and a tan and black belt pouch that takes all of it. The tool has a pocket clip on one handle, so you can also carry it without the pouch. The pouch itself is very strong, not the flimsy sleeve you often get with a tool at this price.
What we like
- Small enough to bring on any trip
- Still useful, not too small to use
- Materials feel really premium
- Bit extender and driver bits
- Strong pouch that holds the bits
- 25-year warranty
What we don’t
- Bits are a separate strip to track
- Short knife blade
- Not for heavy-duty jobs

In the pouch
The M2 comes with a bit extender and a strip of driver bits, and a strong belt pouch takes all of it. Folded, the tool is 71 × 30 × 17 mm, and a pocket clip means you can also carry it without the pouch.

The 14 tools
For its size, the M2 has a full set:
- Pliers: needlenose pliers, regular pliers and wire cutters.
- Blades: a knife with a liner lock, and folding scissors.
- Drivers: a Phillips screwdriver and a small flat screwdriver, plus the bit extender and driver bits.
- Openers: a bottle opener, a can opener and a box opener.
- Extras: a nail file with a nail cleaner, an awl and a ceramic glass breaker.
The scissors are the ones that stand out. They fold out on their own arm and are a proper pair, not an afterthought, which makes them handy for tape, line, packets and first-aid dressings.
Everything is small, as you’d expect at 7 cm, but it doesn’t feel too small to use. The pliers will hold a hot pot lid or pull a tent peg loop, and the knife will cut cord and open packets. It’s still very useful, just not the tool for heavy-duty work.
The knife locks in place when it’s open, with a liner lock. A steel tab inside the handle springs in behind the blade and holds it there, so it can’t fold onto your fingers while you’re cutting. To close it, you push the tab aside and fold the blade back in.

Bit extender and driver bits
Of all the handy features, this is the one I like most, and it lifts the M2 above most mini multitools. A bit extender fits onto the screwdriver and takes the driver bits from the strip, and it holds them magnetically. That turns a tiny multitool into a small screwdriver set, which is what you want for loose screws on camp gear, a fridge slide or a roof rack fitting.
The bits come as a separate strip in a holder. It fits in the pouch, but it’s one more thing to keep track of, and if you carry the tool on its pocket clip, the bits stay behind.

Size, weight and build
Closed, the M2 measures 71 × 30 × 17 mm. The tool weighed 132 g on our scale, and 166 g with the pouch and the bits. That’s light enough for a pocket, a daypack or the glovebox.
The knife and the scissors are 5Cr15MoV stainless steel and the rest of the tool is 3Cr13 and 2Cr13 stainless. In the hand the materials feel really premium, and Roxon backs it with a 25-year warranty.

Roxon M2 vs Roxon Spark
We bought both, and they suit different jobs. The M2 is the pocket tool: half the weight, with scissors and a set of driver bits. The Roxon Spark is the outdoor tool: bigger pliers, a larger knife, a saw, a fire starter and a whistle.
