YETI Rambler 26 oz Straw Bottle Review

On this page

YETI makes some of the best-known insulated bottles around, and they’re priced to match. The Rambler 26 oz Bottle with Straw Cap is the one for cold water: a 760 ml stainless steel bottle with a fold-down straw and a carry handle. Ours is in the Cape Taupe colour.

We keep it as our backup bottle for trips in the outback, or anywhere it’s extremely hot and we want to keep our water chilled. It works great for at least a few hours, and it’s definitely leakproof.

What You’re Getting

Insulation and build

The Rambler is made of kitchen-grade 18/8 stainless steel, with two walls and a vacuum between them. The label promises drinks stay hot or cold “to the last drop”. We use it for water, and on hot days it has kept ours chilled for at least a few hours.

YETI calls the outside a No Sweat design: the vacuum stops condensation forming, so the bottle stays dry in your hand and in a bag. The colour is a coating YETI calls DuraCoat, which it says won’t peel or crack.

The straw cap

The cap screws onto the wide mouth and has a spout that folds down flat when you’re not drinking. Flip it up and you sip through the straw without tipping the bottle. YETI describes the bottle as leakproof when the straw is closed, and in our use it’s definitely leakproof.

The handle is part of the cap and is big enough for a couple of fingers.

The lids are interchangeable, too. The bottle is compatible with other YETI caps, like the Chug Cap and the HotShot Cap, so you can swap the straw for a different top.

Size, weight and cleaning

On our scale the bottle weighed 586 g, empty and with the cap on. Filled with 760 ml of water, that’s about 1.35 kg, so this is a bottle for the car and the camp table more than for a long walk. It doesn’t fit in the centre console of our Prado, which is a bit annoying. The smaller 12 oz does.

Cleaning is easy. The label says the bottle is dishwasher safe, and the same words are stamped into the base.

Next to the YETI Rambler 12 oz HotShot Bottle, which is made for hot coffee, you can see how much taller the 26 oz is.

Conclusion: YETI Rambler 26 oz Straw Bottle

The YETI Rambler 26 oz Straw Bottle is a tough, well-made insulated bottle: 18/8 stainless steel, a coating that won’t peel or crack, a straw cap that folds flat, and a bottle and cap that go in the dishwasher. It’s our backup bottle for outback trips and extremely hot days, where it keeps our water chilled for at least a few hours without leaking. It’s heavy at 586 g empty, it doesn’t fit in our centre console, and at about $100 it costs more than most. For more options, see our guide to the best camping water bottles.
