The Kings Fridge Tie-Down Kit is four straps and four steel brackets that hold a fridge to the tie-down points in the back of your car. It’s super handy if you have securing points, like we do across the top of the Titan drawers in our Prado, and it works for battery boxes and water tanks too. I paid around $30 for it.
What’s in the box
Four black Adventure Kings straps, 1 m long and 25 mm wide, each with a metal cam buckle, and four blue steel brackets. Each bracket has a keyhole slot that goes over a tie-down bolt on the fridge and a slot at the bottom for the strap. The whole kit weighs 290 g and comes in a small box.
What we like
- Holds a full fridge in place
- Quick to fit and undo
- Steel brackets, cam buckles
- Fridges, battery boxes, tanks
What we don’t
- Needs tie-down points in the car
- Webbing can fray on sharp edges
- Undo the straps to lift it out

Fitting it
Loosen the screws in the tie-down points on each side of the fridge, slide a bracket over each one and tighten it again. Then thread a strap through each bracket, run it down to a tie-down point in the car and pull it tight through the cam buckle. On our Kings 40L Fridge (Escape 40) the brackets hook straight onto the bolts Kings puts on the fridge for this, and the straps go to the fold-down rings on top of the drawer system. With four straps pulling down, a full fridge stays where it is, and it takes a minute to undo when the fridge has to come out.

Not just for fridges
The straps work for anything heavy with something to hook onto: a battery box, a water tank or a storage box. That’s the real value of the kit. Once you have tie-down points in the back of the car, one set of straps keeps the heavy gear where it belongs, so it can’t slide into the back of the seats if you brake hard.
The trade-off of strapping it down is that you have to undo four buckles every time the fridge comes out, so on a fridge slide or a drawer you open often, leave a little slack where you can. The one thing you need is the anchor points. If your car has none, look at fitting tie-down rings or a drawer system first. Check the webbing now and then too, because a strap that rubs on a sharp edge will fray over time.

Conclusion: Kings Fridge Tie-Down KitConclusion

You need tie-down points in the car, and you have to undo the straps to lift the fridge out. Kings often sells it in a bundle deal, and I paid around $30 for it.
