A rooftop tent mattress sits on a closed floor, and on cold or humid nights moisture can collect underneath it, where you don’t see it. The Kings Rooftop Tent Anti-Condensation Mat is the fix: a layer of open mesh between the mattress and the floor. We bought it straight away, together with our Kings Grand Tourer Lite rooftop tent, and paid $90.
What’s in the box
One 136 × 236 cm mat of 3D-woven polypropylene mesh, 10 mm thick, with a white binding around the edge and an elastic strap at each corner. It weighs 1.8 kg and comes rolled up in a box, with a 1-year warranty.
What we like
- Fits our Grand Tourer Lite perfectly
- Keeps the mattress drier
- Easier to air out quickly
- Set and forget under the mattress
- Corner straps hold it to the mattress
- Tough woven polypropylene
What we don’t
- $90 is quite steep
- Adds 1.8 kg on the roof

How it works
The mat is a thick, open 3D mesh: two faces held 10 mm apart by springy fibres, with air all the way through. Laid on the tent floor under the mattress, it keeps a continuous air gap underneath, so warmth and moisture from the night can move and dry out instead of soaking into the bottom of the mattress.

In our Grand Tourer Lite
It fits perfectly under the mattress of our Grand Tourer Lite. Kings makes it to fit its own rooftop tents, so it lies flat across the floor without bunching up at the edges. The elastic straps at the four corners wrap around the corners of the mattress, so the mat and the mattress stay together and the mat can’t slide out from under it. Once it’s in, it stays there, so it’s a set-and-forget accessory. Ours has been in for over a year now, and it keeps the mattress drier: there’s far less damp underneath, and when we do air the tent out it dries out quickly.
At $90 it’s quite steep for what is a piece of mesh, and it adds 1.8 kg to the weight on the roof. For a mattress that lives on a closed tent floor, though, it’s a small price for an air gap underneath.

Conclusion: Kings Rooftop Tent Anti-Condensation MatConclusion
The Kings Rooftop Tent Anti-Condensation Mat is a 136 × 236 cm, 10 mm layer of 3D-woven polypropylene mesh that keeps an air gap between the mattress and the tent floor. We bought it straight away with our Grand Tourer Lite, it fits perfectly under the mattress, and after more than a year it keeps the mattress drier and easier to air out. At $90 it’s quite steep and it adds 1.8 kg on the roof, but for 4WD tourers with a hard shell rooftop tent it’s a simple, set-and-forget way to keep the underside of the mattress dry.

Fits the Grand Tourer Lite perfectly, but $90 is steep.
- 4WD tourers
- Couples
- Rooftop tents
Yes, if you have a hard shell rooftop tent. $90 is quite steep for mesh, but it’s a set-and-forget fix for the damp that collects under a mattress on a closed tent floor.
